Brownsville Baptist Church has been recognized across the Southern Baptist Convention as a giving mission-minded church that puts missions first. From the specific budget items of giving to the promotion of schools and homes for children in Central America, the members of this congregation are concerned about seeing the gospel of Jesus Christ preached to the nations.
One of the highlights of the past few years has been the promotion of the Hispanic ministry in western Tennessee for the hundreds of Hispanics who come to this area for seasonal as well as permanent employment. The members of BBC underwrote the founding of the local Hispanic church and are rejoicing in the growth and activity of that church community. In cooperation with the church, the local church funded a radio ministry station specializing in Christian music and preaching of the gospel in the Spanish language.
From BBC's congregation, we have sent numerous missionaries who have served from Hong Kong, Vietnam, Taiwan, Phillippines, Central Africa, Southeast Asia, Guam and countries in Latin and South America. Our missionary house presently under rennovation will soon house missionaries on furlough from their respective mission fields.
Begining in September, Church Member Kent Douglas will be traveling to Honduras to serve as our mission representative there.
Brownsville Baptist Church always places a heavy emphasis on local missions and has started many mission churches over the years such as Calvary Baptist, Poplar Corner Baptist, Community Baptist, and our local Hispanic congregation.
Our church contributes to the cooperative program and ranks high among the churches of similar size in the convention.
